Cheri Drapeu
Master Teacher / Instructional Coach

I am the first in my family to graduate High School as well as college. After high school and one failed semester at STCC, I joined the Air Force Reserves and was stationed at Westover AFB in Chicopee, MA. I was trained as an Aeromedical Specialist at Brooks AFB in Texas. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made! Coming home after training, I started as a salad bar girl at Abdow’s working full time, after a few months I became a morning/afternoon waitress. I worked as a waitress full time for the next nine years. I started my path in college at 24 years old, working full time and going to classes full time. I graduated from Westfield State in 2003 and substituted for two years until I landed my job here at Kiley MS. Once I started teaching, I only waited tables part time. I went after my Master’s Degree in 2009 and received it in 2011 – full-time teaching, part time waitressing and 2 night classes at Westfield State.
Through out my career as a teacher I have also been a tutor for Princeton Review, advisor for student club Green Garden Club, assistant softball coach, girls’ volleyball coach. I have also participated in and facilitated many different types of professional trainings – from Writing With Textual Evidence to Teaching American History to UnboundEd Standard’s Institute trainings.
I am not just passionate about teaching and being everything a great teacher is, I am invested – in my career, my students and my school.

School Nurse
panettim@springfieldpublicschools.com
I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from UMass- Amherst and have been a Registered Nurse for 17 years. My career began in the NICU (newborn intensive care unit) and then I transferred to a Pediatric Pulmonologist office (kids lung and breathing specialist). I am also an IBCLC (Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant) and have over 6 years of experience as a school nurse. Being a nurse is so cool because there is always something new to learn and you get help kids (and parents) feel better. I hate Covid-19 but I do appreciate all the extra time I get at home with my wife, 3 kids, rescue pit bull, 2 cats and 24 houseplants!
