Virtual Platform Use

At Kiley Prep we will utilize:

Microsoft Teams- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Teams#Education, Microsoft Teams is a Universal communication and collaboration platform that combines persistent workplace (classroom) chat, video meetings (live classes), file storage (including collaboration of files), and application integration. The service integrates with the Office 365 subscription office productivity suite and features extensions that can integrate with non-Microsoft products.

Unified Classroom/PowerSchool- What is Unified Classroom/PowerSchool?  PowerSchool Unified Classroom™ is a comprehensive software solution that eliminates traditional technology silos (Gradebook, LMS, assessment, analytics, student information, and special education)—empowering teachers to manage the entire instructional process more efficiently and from anywhere.

Nearpod- Teachers can use Nearpod to support student learning in a variety of ways. Nearpod can give students opportunities for interaction and immediate feedback by having them draw on a map or diagram, respond to a poll question, post a note or image to a collaboration board, or take a multiple-choice quiz. Bring the world to a classroom by taking kids on a virtual field trip to a national park or a different country. Help students review key learning concepts by watching videos, reviewing notes, or taking their own notes. Let kids design their own slideshows and teach each other. Incorporate social and emotional learning (SEL) and digital citizenship skills with pre-created lessons on empathy, cyberbullying, or Internet safety. https://www.micds.org/news/article/what-is-nearpod/

Flipgrid- Further classroom conversations by assigning questions as homework assignments and then continue the conversation in class the next day. Ask students to weigh in on a critical current event for a social studies or civics class; use it in a math class to ask students to describe the process they used to solve a complex problem. Perhaps ask students at the end of a unit to reflect on what they've learned and what they'd recommend to other students. https://www.commonsense.org/education/website/flipgrid

Amplify- Amplify Science is a highly engaging, phenomena-based program for grades K–8 that integrates the latest practices in science teaching and learning, as well as interactive digital tools and hands-on activities, to teach students how to think, read, write, and argue like real scientists and engineers. https://amplify.com/

LearnZillion- LearnZillion provides your students an extra learning boost, to give them review on topics you've covered in class, or even to give them a springboard for new exploration. You can also find new lessons, give yourself inspiration, or learn how to explain a concept a different way. Full lesson plans, complete with teaching notes, necessary prerequisites, and more, provide a lot of the background work necessary for teaching a new concept. https://www.commonsense.org/education/website/learnzillion
You and your students can do these lessons as a whole class, or students can do them in small groups or on their own. For example, hold a "math lab" where kids work on slightly different sets of problems that are specifically tailored to their needs. Assign "just right" practice exercises to each student based on their level of understanding.

Illustrative Math- Illustrative Mathematics 6–8 Math is a problem-based core mathematics curriculum for grades 6–8 that develops students’ mathematical thinking skills through questioning, discussion, and real-world contexts and connections. With state standards at its foundation, Illustrative Mathematics 6–8 Math supports learning and achievement for all students with built-in differentiation for English language learners, accelerated learners, and those below benchmark. It also fosters learning at home with comprehensive resources for families. https://illustrativemathematics.blog/curriculum/

Expeditionary Learning ELA 2 - EL Education is transforming literacy education with an acclaimed curriculum, proven professional development, and a suite of resources that empower teachers to master their greatest aspirations and build equitable and inclusive learning opportunities for all students. Created by teachers for teachers, and based on college and career readiness standards, the EL Education Language Arts curriculum is a comprehensive, research-informed, core language arts program that engages teachers and students through compelling, real world content. https://curriculum.eleducation.org/about
